Wesley Nurse Ministry
The mission of Methodist Healthcare Ministries is to serve by improving the physical, mental and spiritual health of those least served
in the Southwest Texas Conference area of The United Methodist Church.
Wesley Nurse Health Ministries, under the direction of Laura Campbell, R.N., at Uvalde FUMC offers resources for living through its specialized nurse. The ministry provides a variety of health and wellness programs within our local church and community and facilitates and coordinates services that impact the lives of the members of this congregation and community.
Services offered by the Wesley Nurse to the congregation and community include the following:
Giving general information about health questions, individually or as part of a group
Talking about personal health and wellness
Helping clients apply for benefits and services from various agencies
Checking blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and heart rate
Offering support for growth in body, mind and spirit
While incorporating a holistic approach, the Wesley Nurse programs and services are designed to:
Maximize the potential for optimal health
Facilitate and promote self-empowerment
Recognize, honor, respect, and embrace diversity as a core function of the professional practice of nursing.
Collaborate with the individual, congregation, community, agencies, and available resources to provide relevant and meaningful services
Although the Wesley Nurse is a licensed R.N., she does not administer medications and cannot diagnose medical conditions.
