1. What does the restoration project entail?
The current scope of the project incudes restoration of the sanctuary including the following items: repair of the brick work, a new roof, insulation, repair of plaster, refinishing of the woodwork on floors, new carpeting, the restoration of the tower roofs, repair of the support beam, new electrical wiring, sound, and lighting.
2. Will there be new construction?
The current scope of the project calls for construction of a new foyer, new handicap accessible restrooms, and handicap accessibility between the office level, foyer, and sanctuary. It also includes the installation of an elevator.
3. What is the amount that we are trying to raise in the Capital Campaign?
The current proposed estimate is approximately $1.6 million which includes a new fire alarm system and an amount for contingencies.
4. Recently approximately $200,000 in stained-glass restoration was completed. Is this amount included in the $1.6million?
No. The $200,000 was paid for out of funds that had been previously designated for the building project, and was approved at a previous church conference, along with the architectural fees.
5. What does the word "NEXT" stand for in the campaign logo?
One of the genealogical terms that refer to the current generation is "Generation Next" or that of the "Generation X." The logo term "NEXT" with the "X" being in the shape of a cross indicates that we are restoring the sanctuary for the "next" generations or the generations to come.
6. How long of a period do I have to make my donation or pledge?
The Capital Campaign is designed to accept either a one time gift or gifts that are spread over a three-year period.
7. Do we have to have all of the money in hand before beginning the restoration project?
No. The amount received in the pledge campaign will be utilized by the Building Committee to make a proposal to a called Church Conference to proceed with the project, or aspects of it. A loan can be secured and will repaid as pledges are received. Obviously, the larger amounts that are received in the early part of the campaign will reduce the amount borrowed and the amounts of interest that will accrue.
8. Where will we worship during the renovation?
We will worship in Weston Hall in the Christian Life Center during the renovation. We will make some adjustments for sound as well as trying to baffle the echo.
9. How long will we worship in Weston Hall?
It is estimated that it will take the better part of a year for the renovation.
